Trying to fix a HAL.DLL error on a Dell running Windows XP caused hard disk drive failure!?
Q: I positively don't know much about PC's and so I'm trying to find someone who can help get my hard drive back up and running. I just need the statistics off that drive . . . I'll pay for someone's time if they can help me.
My problem started with the computer locking up during routine e-mailing. When it rebooted, it stated that there was no HAL.DLL queue. I looked up on the net (www.fix-dll-errors.com) and tried to fix it myself. Not surprisingly, I made a bigger mess . . . and so I've tried to reinstall Windows XP with the CD Rom that came with the Dell - and again the flirt became worse. Now my machine can't find the hard drive.
Can someone help me with this or show me where to go to find someone who can help? Again, I'll pay for the assistance if it's legit . . .
Thanks!
p.s. I act in concert out in the finance/business section of yahoo answers . . . I've never been in the computer area before . . .
A: Honestly, the best thing to do at this point is take it to a local reputable shop.
