Why does Windows Movie Maker keep crashing everytime I start up?

Q: When I try to start up my Windows Movie Maker, which tempered to to work fine, it crashes coming up with the error;
AppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.0.3312.0 ModName: qedit.dll
ModVer: 6.5.2600.2180 Repay: 0001a513

How can I fix this and is there any decent free movie makers out there to download?

A: Alas Windows Movie Maker is a joke. We used it twice for a project then swore it off. After you've used your computer and downloaded images, music, and other files, you unquestionably bog down your computer. Try using WMM with out any other files or programs running (including IM messengers and web pages). If it still isn't working, defrag your PC, restart and try again. Sometimes prevalent to the Windows Website and downloading upgrades helps too.

PS. If you have the money, buy Adobe Top-ranking. I love that editing program for smaller projects. For big projects, I use Final Cut Pro or the entire Adobe escort (After Effects and Photoshop and Image Ready).
