Why does Windows Movie Maker keep crashing everytime I start up?

Q: When I try to start up my Windows Silent picture Maker, which used to work fine, it crashes coming up with the error;
AppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.0.3312.0 ModName: qedit.dll
ModVer: 6.5.2600.2180 Counterbalance: 0001a513

How can I fix this and is there any decent free movie makers out there to download?

A: Lamentably Windows Movie Maker is a joke. We used it twice for a project then swore it off. After you've inured to your computer and downloaded images, music, and other files, you really bog down your computer. Try using WMM with out any other files or programs running (including IM messengers and web pages). If it still isn't working, defrag your PC, restart and try again. Sometimes successful to the Windows Website and downloading upgrades helps too.

PS. If you have the money, buy Adobe Main. I love that editing program for smaller projects. For big projects, I use Final Cut Pro or the entire Adobe series (After Effects and Photoshop and Image Ready).

Q: Its from windows large screen maker, I just uninstalled a program and it change to this error
AppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.1.4026.0 ModName: qedit.dll
ModVer: 6.5.2600.2180 Check: 0001b2cf

it use to be Offset 0001b2af it changed to 0001b2cf, does anyone know what this means?
it changed back to the b2af error
