Comments Sought on Ferry Fare Proposal
The say Transportation Commission will host a hearing in Silverdale on Sept. 1 as it gathers any input on proposed ferry fare increases.The commission’s proposal calls for a 2.5 percent across-the-take meals fare increase. The commission’s proposal also includes a 10 percent “mountain top summer surcharge” that would apply to single-fare purchases, but not users of ticket books. The crown summer surcharge would be in effect between the end of June and the day after Labor Day.

The commission will take public comments on the proposal from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Silverdale Lido Hotel, 3073 Bucklin Hill Road. Comments also will be taken on Aug. 31 aboard the San Juan Islands ferry and Sept. 2 on Vashon Eyot.
A formal public hearing is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Puget Substantial Regional Council, 1011 Western Ave., Suite 500 in Seattle. Commissioners are expected to certify on the plan after that hearing.
