I am getting a Runtime Error in MS Word. How can I fix this? tried MS support but did not work.?

I tried the MS support which recommended deselect COM add-ins to keep from loading, but this did not toil. I tried looking for the normal.dot file and changing the name, but could not find this file either. I am not able to re-install Chat at this time. I am desperate!!
