Q: Should the intelppm start and intelide start settings in the registry have the same value?
On my computer (that cannot start up regularly but starts up in uninjured mode - after a XP SP3 install(now removed))
The Intelide start setting is 4
The intelppm start mounting is 1
A: I propose b assess you are going too deep already with this. I can understand that you installed SP3 & the system crashed. It now comes up in safe mode only. What faultlessly happens when you try to boot in normal mode? Do you get an error message or does the computer just tarry up? I'd say at your stage, go for system restore. Windows boots in safe mode, data is protected (Make restitution for a copy now while you have the chance) Use the system restore to go back before you installed SP3, even if SP3 has now been removed, this still might help. Worth a shot? What say??
